What Is Breast Revision Surgery?
Breast augmentation is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the U.S., and in the majority of cases, it results in terrific outcomes. However, sometimes, a patient can be dissatisfied with the appearance of her breasts and may require breast revision treatment. Keep in mind not all revision surgeries are due to practitioner error. While few breast augmentations end with an unpleasing outcome, some women want a larger or smaller implant while some may have a defect and prefer to have the implant revised or removed altogether. Furthermore, some women require revision surgery for a specific condition, such as implant removal, capsulotomy, capsulectomy, or capsulorrhaphy. Fredericksburg, VA plastic surgeons Dr. Howard Heppe, Dr. Harold Bautista, and Dr. Pejman Aflaki provide breast revision surgery after giving an in-depth assessment at Plastic Surgery Services of Fredericksburg so that the correct outcome is attained.
What Should I Expect from a Breast Revision?
When you come for your initial consultation, we will learn about your health history, issues, and needs to determine the best way to address your specific concerns. Breast revision surgeries are typically a straightforward procedure performed in our Fredericksburg, VA practice. Revision surgery is an individualized procedure designed to address your unique cosmetic needs. Whether your treatment plan includes an implant revision or removal, capsulotomy, capsulectomy, or capsulorrhaphy, Drs. Heppe, Bautista, and Aflaki will customize the procedure to ensure you get the results you are looking for. It may be necessary to combine services, such as a breast lift with your implant removal, to achieve optimal results.

What Can I Expect After Breast Revision?
Following your surgery and an observation period, you will be sent home to begin your recovery. The overall recovery varies based on the complexity of your surgery. A revision that requires any type of reconstruction or grafting will have a longer recovery, which could last up to 6 – 8 weeks. You should slowly start to see your surgical results once the swelling begins to go down. Dr. Heppe or someone on his team will discuss what is expected during your recovery, plus recommendations to help you heal faster. You should attend follow-up appointments as directed so Dr. Heppe can assess your recovery and results.
Plastic Surgery Services of Fredericksburg Reviews
Fantastic Results - The results after my mommy makeover have exceeded my expectations! Dr Heppe is very skilled and the facility is clean and welcoming.
I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the amazing job Dr. Aflaki did with my abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), mastopexy (breast lift), and lipo 360 procedure in October 2024. His expertise and attention to detail truly made a difference in my journey, I couldn't be happier with the results. Thank you Dr. Aflaki and his team for the exceptional work and support. I will gladly recommend Dr. Aflaki to anyone considering similar procedures. Please follow him on Instagram to see his work.
Dr. Aflaki is the BEST. I wish I had come to him sooner. I recently had a 360 Lipo and BBL done with him and I am SO grateful I went to him. I originally booked with 2 different doctors in Miami but cancelled both after finding out some very horrifying news about what they were doing to women. Something in me told me to just stay in state and do it closer to home. THANK GOD I cancelled with the other doctors and stayed in state. I soon found Doctor Aflaki's office and booked my procedure the same day as my consult with him because my intuition felt REALLY good about him. My spirit was at peace when speaking to him, and it felt right. He is straight to the point and honest. He genuinely cared for me. If I have questions, I ask him directly anytime, and he is always there for me. His staff is also very kind and helpful. Shout out to Nurse Victoria for all the advice she gave me through my recovery! The results I got with Dr. Aflaki are fantastic... I am 7 weeks post-op today, and I am EXTREMELY happy with my results. -Madhu
My experience was excellent! Dr. Aflaki and his team were amazing with anything I needed. I couldn't be more happier with my results. For my next procedure I wont go anywhere else! Looking forward to my next improvement. I can't wait! Thank you Dr. AFlaki for everything!
I’ve got the Fraxel preformed on face with Kristine and she made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire treatment. Dr. B prescribed me a prescription to prep as well as a numbing cream for the day of. I arrived one hour earlier than my scheduled time to allow the numbing cream sit and settle. Then I had the Fraxel laser pass over several times and thankfully I had a cooling tube right by me which made the passes at the more painful setting much easier to go through. I’m still in the recovery phase, but it’s not as bad as a chemical peel. I have slight flaking, and it just look like I’m more flushed than usual. Looking forward to the results over the next months and can’t wait to go back for maintenance. Just make sure you follow the pre and post instructions to a T

Am I a Candidate for a Breast Revision?
Should you have any trouble (either medical or cosmetic) about your breast implants, please make an appointment for a consultation at Plastic Surgery Services of Fredericksburg to talk about your goals and to develop your unique plan for breast revision surgery. Whether it's scarring, breast drooping, rippling, or unbalanced breasts, revision surgery can help correct the problem and create a more pleasing and healthy outcome. This operation may also help if you are wanting to alter the implant style, size, or address another aspect of your breasts.
How much does breast revision surgery cost?
Your cost for breast revision surgery will vary greatly depending on the complexity of your procedure. During your consultation, a team member will listen carefully to your concerns and goals before completing a physical exam to assess your implants. Then, they will talk about your options before developing your surgical plan. The cost of breast revision surgery will be based on the complexity of the procedure plus what you choose for your new implants. It's best to focus on getting the desired results by finding an experienced provider rather than the cheapest surgeon. To help make your surgery easy to afford, Plastic Surgery Services of Fredericksburg accepts many different payment methods, and we can give you information on low-interest medical financing.
Do I have to change my implants?
Although implants can last a long time, they will require replacement eventually. After augmentation surgery, it's important to get your implants checked at least once a year so a team member can help you determine if your implants need to be replaced. With so many advances in medical technology, you may prefer the new implant types and shapes to get the best outcome during breast revision surgery.
What about loose skin?
If you are getting your implants removed or are changing to a significantly smaller size of implants, you may need to have excess skin removed during your surgery. After listening to your goals and evaluating your current implants, a team member can discuss adding a breast lift to remove loose skin. If you lose much weight, get pregnant, or breastfeed after breast augmentation surgery, a revision with a lift can help you get better results.
