Breast Revision in Fredericksburg, VA

What Is Breast Revision Surgery?

Breast augmentation is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the U.S., and in the majority of cases, it results in terrific outcomes. However, sometimes, a patient can be dissatisfied with the appearance of her breasts and may require breast revision treatment. Keep in mind not all revision surgeries are due to practitioner error. While few breast augmentations end with an unpleasing outcome, some women want a larger or smaller implant while some may have a defect and prefer to have the implant revised or removed altogether. Furthermore, some women require revision surgery for a specific condition, such as implant removal, capsulotomy, capsulectomy, or capsulorrhaphy. Fredericksburg, VA plastic surgeons Dr. Howard Heppe, Dr. Harold Bautista, and Dr. Pejman Aflaki provide breast revision surgery after giving an in-depth assessment at Plastic Surgery Services of Fredericksburg so that the correct outcome is attained.

What Should I Expect from a Breast Revision?

What Can I Expect After Breast Revision?

Following your surgery and an observation period, you will be sent home to begin your recovery. The overall recovery varies based on the complexity of your surgery. A revision that requires any type of reconstruction or grafting will have a longer recovery, which could last up to 6 – 8 weeks. You should slowly start to see your surgical results once the swelling begins to go down. Dr. Heppe or someone on his team will discuss what is expected during your recovery, plus recommendations to help you heal faster. You should attend follow-up appointments as directed so Dr. Heppe can assess your recovery and results.

I did my research and I found Dr Heppe was one of Northern Virginia’s top plastic surgeons. When I met Dr Heppe and his staff, I was very happy on how friendly and knowledgeable they were. On the day of my procedure, which is done in the building, I was very much impressed with how the process was done. All my questions and concerns were answered. I am a registered nurse, and I am acutely aware of when infection control procedures are followed and not followed, I absolutely felt safe in this environment. I am now three months out from my surgery and I am very much pleased with the results. I did not have any postoperative complications nor any infection. I honestly can highly recommend Dr.Heppe. I had a brachioplasty done and it’s the first time in 30 years that I’ve worn sleeveless tops and dresses. I wish I had done this earlier! Thank you to Dr Heppe and his staff. I have sent friends to him and they are pleased as well. Connie W RN

Five Stars are Not enough for Dr. Aflaki. I did revision rhinoplasty and I cannot thank him enough for such an amazing job he has done. The best decision I made. He is simply the best, number one plastic surgeon.

I had a breast augmentation with Dr. Bautista and I am so happy that I chose him. I came into the office because one breast was larger than the other. Dr. Bautista examined me and told me what he was able to do which was stitch up the larger breast so gravity wouldn't pull it down so hard after surgery. Nearly 3 months later they are sitting evenly and I'm so happy. The nurses were great as well. I had other medical doctors and they ensured I got a doctor's note to approve the surgery as well as making sure they honor my latex allergy. Everyone was so nice and the process was just so welcoming and amazing. Highly recommend!

Am I a Candidate for a Breast Revision?

Should you have any trouble (either medical or cosmetic) about your breast implants, please make an appointment for a consultation at Plastic Surgery Services of Fredericksburg to talk about your goals and to develop your unique plan for breast revision surgery. Whether it's scarring, breast drooping, rippling, or unbalanced breasts, revision surgery can help correct the problem and create a more pleasing and healthy outcome. This operation may also help if you are wanting to alter the implant style, size, or address another aspect of your breasts.

How much does breast revision surgery cost?

Your cost for breast revision surgery will vary greatly depending on the complexity of your procedure. During your consultation, a team member will listen carefully to your concerns and goals before completing a physical exam to assess your implants. Then, they will talk about your options before developing your surgical plan. The cost of breast revision surgery will be based on the complexity of the procedure plus what you choose for your new implants. It's best to focus on getting the desired results by finding an experienced provider rather than the cheapest surgeon. To help make your surgery easy to afford, Plastic Surgery Services of Fredericksburg accepts many different payment methods, and we can give you information on low-interest medical financing.

Do I have to change my implants?

Although implants can last a long time, they will require replacement eventually. After augmentation surgery, it's important to get your implants checked at least once a year so a team member can help you determine if your implants need to be replaced. With so many advances in medical technology, you may prefer the new implant types and shapes to get the best outcome during breast revision surgery.

What about loose skin?

If you are getting your implants removed or are changing to a significantly smaller size of implants, you may need to have excess skin removed during your surgery. After listening to your goals and evaluating your current implants, a team member can discuss adding a breast lift to remove loose skin. If you lose much weight, get pregnant, or breastfeed after breast augmentation surgery, a revision with a lift can help you get better results.
