Harold Bautista, M.D.

Dr Harold Bautista practices Plastic Surgery in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is the current Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Mary Washington Hospital. Dr. Bautista is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Aesthetic Society (formerly ASAPS).

Education and Training:

After obtaining the degree of Medicine at New York Medical College Dr. Bautista trained at the prestigious Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, the largest plastic surgical group in the United States. He has had extensive exposure to operations, both cosmetic and reconstructive, on every part of the human body. His experience with patients ranging in age from newborns, teenagers, adults to those in skilled nursing facilities helped develop his approach to patients seeking cosmetic improvement of their faces and/or their bodies. Dr Bautista has also gained valuable experience by collaborating with internationally acclaimed plastic surgeons during his medical missions with Operation Smile and The Smile Train.

Practice Philosophy:

Dr Bautista (or Doctor B as his staff and many of his repeat patients call him) truly believes that each patient is unique and should not be offered a cookie cutter approach after their consultation. He likes to think outside of the box, many times using advanced techniques and modalities. Adjunct techniques include Smart Lipo or VASER liposuction. Fat Grafting/Fat injection, and abdominal etching are utilized to achieve an extra refined result for patients undergoing cosmetic surgery of the face or body. “I like to think of myself as an integrative or holistic plastic surgeon. I look at my patient as a unique individual with their own combination of anatomy, medical and surgical history, underlying medical conditions and social situation. I take all that data to formulate a surgical treatment plan specific for their desired outcomes, many times using a combination of procedures to produce the best result possible. Many times I will counsel the patient regarding their nutrition, exercise and possibly hormone replacement and supplements to improve their cosmetic surgery outcomes.” “I believe in the YIN-YANG of Plastic Surgery. The YIN: The cosmetic surgeon should remember all their experiences with reconstructive procedures with regard to tissue handling, healing time and minimization of scarring and complications. This is quite valuable in choosing the appropriate technique(s) for the cosmetic surgery patients. The flip side of that is the YANG: the cosmetic surgery experience gives the surgeon the database to help the reconstructive surgery patient (like mastectomy patients) achieve the best cosmetic appearance after they heal from reconstructive surgery.”
